We are looking for an energetic, self-motivated individual who loves working independently and can also work well with others.
We are a fast-paced print shop which specializes in everything Digital Print, Marketing and Design.
Our ideal press operator is hands-on, knows how to work a small offset - two color - sheet-fed printing press, be motivated, and a team player.
This person needs to be mechanically inclined and able to troubleshoot a problem quickly.
Job
Responsibilities:
Review job orders to determine any special printing instructions, stock specifications, colors, or quantities to be printed.
Collect random samples and inspect them during print runs to determine if any adjustments need to be made and adjust as needed.
Fill ink fountains and purchase or mix inks throughout the week as needed.
Adjust flow rates of ink fountains to achieve the desired flow amount for each press run.
Start presses and check proofs for ink alignment, registration, density, and coverage.
Adjust as needed.
Load paper onto presses, adjusting when necessary to accommodate various paper sizes.
Adjust printing plate tolerances to meet the desired parameters for each press run.
Clean printing unit cylinders, plates, and ink fountains at the completion of each press run.
Monitor and respond to error, alert, or fault messages on automated press operation systems; make minor repairs to oil presses and other equipment as needed using hand tools.
Feed paper through press cylinders, adjusting tension and feed controls as needed.
When needed assist at the front counter, help customers, and answer phone.
Job Skills & Qualifications Required:
Minimum of 3 years of experience Basic math skills, including algebra.
Physically able to lift to 75lbs and move 40
lbs.
of paper, load and unload the press, and stand for extended periods of time without complaint.
Experience working efficiently with minimal supervision.
Strong attention to detail and time management is a must! One must be mechanically inclined and able to operate, continually inspect, troubleshoot, and able to make small repairs.
Listening skills and retention is needed to excel in this position Pay rate - 18-20 based on experience.
