Summary:
Under the direction and supervision of a registered nurse, the OB Technician performs a variety of routine duties within the obstetric department including organization of environment, maintenance of equipment, assisting with operative/delivery room procedures, basic tasks necessary to provide for care, comfort and safety of patients, and clerical support.
Responsible to the Labor and Delivery Leadership, Charge Nurses and the RN's on duty on each assigned shift.

EXPERIENCE DESCRIPTION:
Previous experience as a Surgical Tech or OB Tech is strongly preferred.
EDUCATION DESCRIPTION:
High School Diploma or equivalent and one of the following; a graduate of a CAAHEP or ABHES accredited Medical Assistant Program (Associate, Diploma, or Certificate), or a graduate of a CAAHEP or ABHES accredited Surgical Technologist Program (Associate, Diploma, or Certificate), or CNA or LPN is required.
Incumbents in the position prior to October 1, 2016 may substitute this educational requirement with the following statement - minimum of 2 years work experience in an clinical setting is required.
SPECIAL SKILLS DESCRIPTION:
Knowledge of basic anatomy, physiology and medical terminology is required.
LICENSURE DESCRIPTION:
One of the following is required:
State of Wisconsin licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse, State of Wisconsin Nursing Assistant Certification; or completion of a CAAHEP or ABHES accredited Medical Assistant Program, or completion of a CAAHEP or ABHES accredited Surgical Technologist Program.
In addition, American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider (BLS) or an AHA approved equivalent is required within 90 days of hire.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
